As initially announced on August 19, Japanese magazine Quick Japan will be releasing the special edition of its 180th volume, which will be a special feature focusing on the Gintama series, and has a newly drawn illustration of Ginpachi Sakata for the cover. This marks the third Gintama special feature in Quick Japan; the first time was in volume 86 released in 2009, and the second time in volume 89 released in 2010. This new article explores the reasons for Gintama‘s continued popularity over the past 20 years.

The new upcoming issue, which is the first Gintama feature in almost 15 years will include interviews with Tomokazu Sugita, Ginpachi Sensei author Tomohito Ohsaki, and anime director Higashida Natsumi. Additionally, there will be a column written by Japanese actress, model and essayist Mijika Nagai, who will be looking back to her younger days in the Heisei era, when she watched the first Gintama episode.
The magazine will be releasing on Gintoki’s birthday on October 10, 2025. It’s currently available for pre-order on the Quick Japan store until September 13, 2025 and production is limited.
