October 10th is Gintoki’s birthday! News and other updates are often dropped on birthdays of some of the characters, and Gintoki being the main character means, his birthday will bring about major news, which it indeed did.
On October 10th 2023, the official Gintama account on Twitter released the key visual of the 20th anniversary project, which features the Yorozuya and references the color spread of the series’ first chapter. It was accompanied with the opening of the official Gintama 20th anniversary website, which will contain all updates related to the anniversary project, which will last until 2026, which is the year of the Gintama anime’s 20th anniversary. The menu lists the following categories:

The live musical performance event “Gintama SOUND ULTRA SOUL! ’24” returns!
In 2020, a Gintama event was supposed to be held, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, it ended up being canceled. But on August 10, 2023, the official Gintama account announced its return and with further updates on it on Gintoki’s birthday!
Gintama SOUND ULTRA SOUL! ’24 is back! Music group Audio Highs has produced music for the Gintama anime since its beginning in 2006, and for this occasion, they organized a special band called “Gintama ULTRA BAND Meets Audio Highs”. The live musical performance event will be held at the live music venue Zepp Divercity (TOKYO) on February 11th, 2024. Both a special website and a key visual for the event have been released. Further info on the events to be found on the 20th anniversary and SOUND ULTRA SOUL! ’24 websites. No news regarding a live streaming of the event yet.
The “Gintama On Theater 2D Baragaki-hen” theater list has been released! (Japan exclusive)
A list of theaters that will screen “Gintama On Theater 2D Baragaki-hen“, which is a movie re-edit of the Thorny arc’s episodes has been released. The movie screening starts on November 10th, 2023 and continues for a period of 3 weeks. Check the list on the official Baragaki-hen website.
