At the Gintama SOUND ULTRA SOUL ’24 live concert held in Tokyo, on February 11, 2024, an On Theather movie release for the Courtesan of A Nation arc titled Gintama On Theater 2D Ikkoku Keisei-hen was announced.
The movie is a re-edit of the Courtesan of A Nation arc episodes adapted in the season 2 extension Gintama Enchousen, which started at episode 257 and ended at 261, and it’ll be released in Japan theaters for a limited period of three weeks, starting on June 21 and ending on July 11, 2024.
A new key visual featuring Gintoki and Oboro was released in issue 14 of Weekly Shonen Jump, released on March 3, 2024, which was later posted by the official Gintama account on Twitter. It was accompanied with a newly created website for the upcoming movie.
