The January 2024 issue of the magazine Saikyo Jump, released in Japan on December 4th, 2023, features a collaboration with Gintama and its spin-off novel 3nen Zgumi Ginpachi Sensei. The cover features an illustration of Gintoki and Ginpachi drawn by Sorachi.
In the physical appendix, there is other newly illustrations drawn by Sorachi in the form of A3 posters featuring Shinpachi and Kagura with their Ginpachi Sensei counterparts, an A3 poster of the Gintoki and Ginpachi illustration on the magazine’s cover, and 6 different stickers, three of which are previously drawn illustrations from:
- Jump GIGA 2019 Winter issue
- Bessatsu Margaret 2017, issue 15
- Bessatsu Margaret 2018, issue 17
In the magazine, there’s also a collaboration with the educative Jump magazine Bentame Jump, which is to teach Japanese history through Gintama, its historically inspired characters, its setting, and its events, while simultaneously conveying the comedic atmosphere of the series. It consists of 4 sections: “The Most Popular Police Force At The End Of The Bakumatsu Period! The Shinsengumi”, “The Group That Tried Their Hardest To Change Japan! Kogoro Katsura & Ryoma Sakamoto”, “A Lot Happened Before The Opening Of The Country! The Sonno Joui Movement & The Overthrowing Of The Shogunate”, and “What Was Like During The Edo-Meiji.
