FEBRUARY 27, 2026

To begin an unrelated note, happy birthday to me! And this is due to the excitement that stemmed from the brand new announcement that was released today.
Yesterday on Twitter, an account with the handle @dandelion_0913 released an illustration of Sorachi’s gorilla character drawing, or redrawing the 4th page of his famous one-shot Dandelion, which was released in 2002, a year ahead of Gintama‘s serialization, stating that an announcement will be revealed at 1:00PM (JST) today. The one-shot features early aspects of what developed into Sorachi’s writing formula for his stories and his characters.
Today, the account was revealed to be the official handle of an upcoming anime adaptation of Dandelion. The announcement was met with lots of excitement from Gintama fans all over the world.

The announcement came along with the reveal of the voice actors for the two main characters. The male character, Tetsuo Tanba will be voiced by Chikahiro Kobayashi, and the heroine, Misaki Kurogane will be voiced by Megumi Han.
A letter by Sorachi to commemorate the anime’s announcement was also released.
“I try not to reread my debut work because it’s rather embarassing, yet here they are, digging it up to adapt it into an anime and expanding upon it in all sorts of ways. It seems Netflix has no concept of the word delicacy.
Still, since it’s happened, I suppose I’ll take this opportunity to go and see their faces for the first time in over 20 years.”
The anime will be released on Netflix on April 2026.
